Simplicity ~ Community ~ Nature

Rustic Campground

Members camp here and know it will be peaceful and safe. Maybe the sound of singing will drift over the water, but peaceful is the ‘rule’.

Small number of campsites, but our campground is only rarely fully in use. Make arrangements with FLCC caretaker/coordinator at (734) 475-7976. (and even a shower and bathroom are available at Michigan Friends Center next to the campground.)

Beach House

Here you can gather inside for games, crafts, a meal, or just sit and read or write on the screened porch. There’s a wood stove so cocoa parties after skating can be more comfortable.

Also, this is available for rent during the fall, winter and spring (not summer, when member use is high). Paddles and life jackets for the boats are stored here.

Grass/Sand Beach

Two beach areas serve the common area: one for little children, with a sandbox by the water, and one for swimmers. Two rafts go out in the summer.

The lake has almost no motorized traffic and, following our guidelines, is safe for distance swimming. Many picnic tables are out on the common area. A fire circle, boats, a swing, changing room, sauna and beachhouse are all clustered in this common area

Separate changing rooms are provided in a building off the fenced in area across from the log cabin. It is easy to come out in your regular clothes, even before work or after, and have a place to to change in private, and have little storage bins for things you don't want to keep near you while you swim.

Explore the nooks and crannies of our quiet lake, pluck a water lily, observe the herons, go fishing. Boats are for use by members and their guests, all asked to observe guidelines for use and sharing. Life jackets for use in boats, not for swimming, are available.

Enjoy the wonderful wood fired cedar sauna any season, alone or with friends. Get steamy and relaxed, go for a dip (or not!).

Michigan Friends Center(MFC)

Michigan Friends Center is a Quaker founded conference facility on the grounds of Friends Lake Cooperative Community. It is dedicated to spiritual renewal, earth stewardship and non-violent alternatives.

Besides hosting programs for the public, MFC also offers rental opportunities to those that would benefit from a quiet spiritual place in nature.

Renters have enjoyed the space for retreats, trainings, organizational renewal, and personal celebrations. The center is the building on the left as you drive in the entry road of FLCC.

For more information about the center and its programs, visit Michigan Friends Center.
